Search the FAQ for entries containing:

Follow clinic instructions about any ICD therapy you receive. We ask that you contact us anytime therapy is delivered, especially if your ICD is new.

Should you receive a shock when our clinic is closed (after hours, weekends, or on a holiday) how urgently you need to contact us is based on the following:

If you receive one shock and feel OK (no chest pain, shortness of breath, passing out, and/or dizziness), call our office during the next normal business hours. If you are capable of doing so transmit a report (i.e., Carelink, Merlin or Latitude) so we may assess your device.

If you are unable to transmit a report call the office the next business day and arrange to come in for device interrogation.

If at anytime you receive a shock and feel bad or receive multiple shocks in a row, call 911 or arrange go to an emergency room.
