Implantable Device Followup

Ongoing followup and management of implantable devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators is an important aspect of our practice. The majority of our patients with implantable devices are enrolled in remote followup depending the compatibility with the manufacturer's remote monitoring network.

Typical Followup Schedule

Pacemakers:

1 week incision and device check with RN

3 month device check with RN/MD

Remote followup (Carelink network) every 3 months, with office followup as required or every 12 to 18 months.

As device approaches the Elective Replacement indicator due to battery depletion, more frequent remote followup as needed.

Defibrillators:

1 week incision and device check with RN

Optional: 1 month followup with RN/MD

3 month device check with RN/MD

Remote followup (Carelink network) every 3 months, with office followup as required or every 12 to 18 months.

As device approaches the Elective Replacement indicator due to battery depletion, more frequent remote followup as needed.
